SWFL Sustainability Summit organizers are proud to announce Storm Smart will receive the 2015 “Recycling Recognition Award” from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection on April 30, 2015 at Harborside Event Center in downtown Fort Myers.
The Recycling Recognition Program was developed to encourage private businesses, institutions, schools, public organizations and citizens to increase recycling in order to reach Florida’s recycling goal of 75% by 2020.
Brian Rist, President & CEO of The Smart Companies whose largest subsidiary is Storm Smart Building Systems, explained the reason behind his sustainability efforts. “Living in such a beautiful place as Southwest Florida is motivation enough for us at Storm Smart to do our part in preserving that beauty for future generations. We consider recycling and materials repurposing as smart business and would encourage all other businesses to share in that philosophy.”
Through the DEP’s easy-to-use website, organizations can register for free, track, compare, and report their recycling efforts, as well as produce reports on how those efforts are helping to shrink their carbon footprint.
Past recipients include two-time award recipient Arthrex and Florida State University. For more information on past awardees, visit the DEP Recycling Award website.
